London’s Freestyle Records presents West Australia’s own hip shakers, bound to make you break out in a cold sweat – Randa And The Soul Kingdom. Hailing from Perth, Randa And The Soul Kingdom return to Europe for their 2017 tour. With producer Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, Lanu, Black Feeling) at the controls of their debut self titled album, the result was bristling with edgy, gritty funk and soul. The buzz on Randa And The Soul Kingdom led to a full European tour with label mates Deep Street Soul, including a live session for Mark Lamar on BBC Radio 2. Randa was being lauded as a modern day equivalent to Marva Whitney, Ann Sexton and Vicki Anderson in their prime by publications like Mojo Magazine and Blues & Soul. Randa’s music also featured in the US version of teen TV show Skins.

Instead of flying straight back to Australia after the tour, Randa spent 6 months residing in London, collaborating with a variety of funk/soul artists to write her second album, What You Need. Retaining the funk undercurrent, What You Need also incorporates elements of 60s and Northern Soul, 70s disco, and more down tempo, reflective moments as part of a varied and mature collection of songs.

Considering their last European tour was in 2010, it’s high time that Randa And The Soul Kingdom return for another visit, now with two albums under the belt on Freestyle Records, and an all-new extended lineup. Get ready for an ‘Australian Soul Experience’.

“For years now Randa has been bringing her band of funk to the West Coast of Australia with gusto. The secret is now out!”

“Randa And The Soul Kingdom’s second album is out, and things just keep getting better and better. This is one of those albums that just has to be played loud so as to appreciate the wonderful musicianship and awesome grooves.”
