The story of Drawing North started from writing simple pop demos in a garage to selling out their first ever headline show to over 600 people in their hometown of Canberra, Australia. Since then, the 3 friends have constantly been at work, whether it be booking their own 40 date school’s tour of Australia, recording acoustic releases endorsed by Joel Madden of Good Charlotte or playing festivals such as Australia Celebrates live, Vans Warped Tour Australia and Groovin The Moo. The band has also had the opportunity to support international and homegrown artists such as Paul Kelly, Jessica Mauboy and Sheppard. Drawing North have played over 200 shows thus far all around the country and as a result of constant touring and online promotion, the band has collected an ever-growing online fan base with over 35,000 fans across social media sites Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, over 400,000 views across YouTube, coverage in Blunt Mag and Channel V.
Last year the band released their debut album, ‘El Dorado’ produced by James Wisner (Paramore) through Universal Music. The album peaked at number 3 on the iTunes charts and received commercial radio success, receiving across the day airplay at Nova Brisbane, Canberra’s FM104.7 and Sydney’s KIISFM Planet Rock. DN have recently completed a stint in America, showcasing at Sundance Film Festival and SXSW (2016), with plans to move permanently to the US mid 2017.
Drawing North have just completed a new EP and have released the first 2 singles ‘Stay’ and ‘Think About You’. ‘Stay’ has been added nationwide to Australian radio on the HIT network on late nights as well as spotlighting on NOVA Brisbane across the day. ‘Think About You’ has received almost 60k plays on Soundcloud in the week it has been out as well as a premiere with Wonderland Magazine. The band have also had their video clip for ‘Stay’ premiered on the biggest music site in the world, Billboard.com.
