"8/10...largely crisp and glimmering, adding a modern gild to a debut that breathes new life into old sounds." – NME
"4/5... Slow Gum is a whimsical celebration of all things Americana" – The Times (UK)
"Confident, Distinctive, Laconic" - The Guardian
Rule of thumb. If a performer has fun, so will their audience.
Fraser A. Gorman is a rare performer. Artfully combining the sensitivity, romance and introspection of a classic songwriter with an unadulterated joy of performing in front of an audience - throw in his trademark banter which has been known to reach stand-up comedy levels of hilarity and pretty soon everyone in the room (performer included) will be having the time of their lives. Intimate, majestic and yes… a lot of fun.
Fraser is a central part of the small but amazing DIY collective Milk! Records (run by Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher) and the endorsements of his skill as a writer and musician have run loud all over the world. After the international release of his debut album, Slow Gum, the UK's NME’ exclaimed that he “breathes new life in to old sounds” while The Times (London) called it a "Whimsical Celebration Of All Things Americana”.
This run of Parlour shows is sure to be special. Of late Fraser’s live performances have been extremely rare. He spent much of 2016 on self-imposed hiatus, locked in a studio slaving over the songs which will comprise his sophomore album - depriving himself the sweet serotonin release of a rockin’ show and a satisfied audience. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to have one of Australia's finest young songwriters playing old songs and new at your place as part of his exclusive house concert series for Parlour.
9th - 11th June - Sydney, NSW
