Brooke Russell

I was welcomed into tonight’s Parlour Gig in Naomi’s back courtyard by two gentlemen cooking chicken wings on a webber.  It was early Sunday evening, the weekend coming to a close, and there was no better way to spend it than beer, chicken and an intimate performance from the wonderful Brooke Russell.

Brooke steered us through a set of heartache, bad decisions and the better alternative of becoming a crazy cat lady. Her voice has hints of silky jazz with the endearing warmth of country and her own openness and warmth to make an audience feel completely at ease.

With Brook echoing through the streets of Richmond, a curious neighbour popped her head over the wall separating her from the music. She watched on for a song, gave a wave and disappeared back behind the wall.

Starting just before sunset and playing into early darkness, it was a fantastic way to wave goodbye to the weekend.
