September - October
"One of the most original singer-songwriters I have heard recently... I'll be doing what we should all do when we hear or see great art... I'll be shouting her praise from the rooftops" - The Night Sky Is A Jewellery Store Window
Soulful and honest, STAV (Stav Shaul) writes thoughtful, uplifting songs in English, French and Hebrew with bursts of innovative rhythmic fire. Folk, jazz and a hint of something else, she has a compelling ability to tell a story in song. Tears and laughter are the main ingredients in the songwriting process. An expressive voice and a natural affinity for guitar with a sensitive and vivid double bass player (Isaac Gunnoo), Parlour will be bringing this songwriter's introspection, playfulness and raw passion to life at your place this September-October.
Celebrating the release of debut album 'The Horizon Line' in 2016, she toured Australia’s East-Coast with her 4-piece band from Melbourne to the Bello Winter Music Festival. The 9-track album explores her experience as a person between cultures. This year has seen her launching into the international scene as a solo artist, performing in Barcelona, France and Israel, as well as in Melbourne where she is currently based.
Each performance in this series of house concerts will be unique, with improvisation giving the lyrical songs a sense of immediacy and presence. Having organised a number of creative, intimate performances in her local scenes, STAV is excited to open up the floor (or backyard/lounge room/rooftop etc) to the imagination of the Parlour community.
